The Alma De Cristo - Latin for “Soul of Christ”- is a much loved, centuries-old Catholic prayer. It's been embraced by many generations of the faithful in their desire to grow closer to Christ. The author remains a mystery but it was showing up in prayer books as early as the 14^thcentury. Then St. Ignatius of Loyola (who founded the Jesuits in the 16^thcentury) was so deeply moved by the prayer that he featured it in his classic work Spiritual Exercises, making it even more popular.
